American Idol is known for it’s critical judges. It’s their jabbing and sometimes downright mean critiques of singers that raise laughs (and ratings).
Some amateur performers gain the judges’ praise though. Like 16 year old Maddy Curtis of Bluemont, Virginia who gained a unanimous vote to the Hollywood round.
